Phase 1 habitat survey

Phase 1 habitat survey

Experienced Phase 1 habitat surveyors

Over the past three years, we have carried out Phase 1 habitat surveys covering more than 3000 hectares of land throughout the UK. Our experienced surveyors can give you an assessment of the potential for protected species or habitats on a site. They can then help you to assess the likely ecological costs of developing the site.

Extended Phase 1 habitat survey timings

Extended phase 1 habitat surveys can be conducted all year round, but the optimum time for undertaking the survey is between March and September. If you carry out extended Phase 1 habitat surveys in March or early April you are often able to reduce the time frame in which to complete the whole ecological survey programme.

If you carry out your extended Phase 1 habitat surveys in March or April and the potential for protected species is found on your site, you should then have time to carry out the protected species surveys in the same year, rather than having to wait for the next survey season in the following year. This is particularly important if potential for species with a small survey window is found eg, great crested newts or breeding birds.

By following your ecologists advice you can often save both time and money.
