Thomson Ecology give training to Imperial College students

This week Thomson Ecology are working with Imperial College London to help train five of their students.

The students are studying ecology at MSc level, and for the few days whilst at Thomson Ecology they are receiving training in Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) from ecologists. A Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) is normally, as the name suggests, the first stage in any site assessment. It has two main elements: an ecological desk study and an extended Phase 1 habitat survey.

The students’ training includes a site visit to Riverside Park, a local nature reserve owned by Guildford Borough Council, containing meadow, wetland, open water and woodland – an ideal location to put their training into practice.

Imperial College London is the only UK university to focus entirely on science, engineering, medicine and business, and it is listed 3rd in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-2016.
