Principal ecologist, Phil Lomax, discusses green infrastructure

Phil Lomax, Principal Ecologist at Thomson Ecology, has spoken to PlacemakingResource about the removal of green infrastructure guidelines.

The article describes how the National Policy and Planning Framework defines green infrastructure as “a network of multi-functional green space, urban and rural, which is capable of delivering a wide range of environmental and quality of life benefits for local communities.” It discusses the question of where the decision to remove the guidance would leave the future of green infrastructure in England.

Phil says: “As an ecologist working within the industry at Thomson Ecology, I believe strongly that green infrastructure is fundamental to the delivery of sustainable development and to people’s sense of place. We need more guidance and political support for green infrastructure – not less.”
