Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA)

EcIA is the process of gathering relevant information and assessing the likely effects of a proposed development on designated sites, habitats and species. We have carried out Impact Assessments for some of the largest infrastructure developments in the UK and are able to assist at all stages of the EcIA process. Read more

Ecology surveys and advice

We cover the full range of habitats and species found in terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments and have the largest team of ecologists in the UK. This enables us to guarantee the availability of consultants and surveyors for timely and efficient contract delivery.

We are highly experienced at managing multiple site surveys for large-scale projects and have carried out detailed surveys for the largest infrastructure projects in the UK, including road schemes nationwide.

We use advanced technologies to augment our survey work, including using hand-held digital data-capture and mapping devices. We have an in-house geographical information systems (GIS) team with high level environmental data management, remote data upload capacity and secure data storage.

Habitats Regulations Assessment

Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA) are required when a plan or project is likely to have a significant effect on a European protected site, such as a Special Protection Area or a Special Area of Conservation. We have an in-depth knowledge of the HRA process and have undertaken 'likely signifcance tests', Appropriate Assessments and full HRAs for highways projects.

We prepare development licence applications for a range of protected species and have a 100% success rate for achieving European Protected Species Licences. We have delivered some of the largest ecological mitigation packages in Europe.

Our arboriculture team offers a full suite of arboriculture services to steer you through the legislation and guidance covering trees in the UK.
