How can we make the most of our land to benefit biodiversity?

How can we make the most of our land to benefit biodiversity?
The first step in enhancing the biodiversity of a site is to undertake a baseline survey. The survey should help identify any existing areas of biodiversity interest and also any areas that would benefit from improvements.
Once the baseline conditions are understood, it should be possible to produce a design that makes the most of the existing biodiversity interest, whilst adding new features to benefit biodiversity, in line with your budget.
The design should make reference to the surrounding area, as well as features which may have been present in the past. It will usually be important to appoint a contractor experienced in habitat creation techniques to help you implement your design. You should also draw up a management plan which sets out how the site will be managed to benefit biodiversity in the years ahead.
