About us

We are ecologists, marine taxonomists, arboriculturists, entomologists, botanists, ornithologists, wildlife habitat contractors and GIS specialists. We believe that if we support each individual in their chosen development path, then together we will grow a very strong team. In support of that belief we invest an unusually large amount in technical and professional training as well as personal development.

Our innovation is continuous through our research and development programme and is aimed at increasing ecological knowledge and our clients’ advantage in the market place.

We work with a passion which is sometimes exhausting so we have fun too in the form of regular parties and fund raising activities in support of our chosen charities.

Our values, our vison

We are defined by our values of respect, integrity, support and excellence, and you can rely on us to embody those values. We simply wish to be clearly recognised as the ecologists chosen by informed project managers.

Our partner - Wessex Archaeology

Working together to streamline specialist services for our clients.

Thomson Ecology and Wessex Archaeology are market leaders in their disciplines and already chosen by informed project managers for many of the UK’s largest infrastructure and energy projects. Our alliance places us in a strong competitive position, as together we now offer the breadth of an even wider set of skills as well as the in depth knowledge of highly experienced specialists.

All new construction projects have to pass specific ecological and archaeological requirements before they receive planning permission. This partnership offers developers a more efficient and streamlined method for commissioning these specialist services, allowing you access to the best advice available as part of one contract without the need to go to multiple firms.

Wessex Archaeology

I am very pleased with all the work that Thomson has done for us over the last couple of years. They provide a very pragmatic approach to all ecological problems with economical, cost effective solutions. Simon Pinto, Willmott Dixon
